Peer player ratings

After a match, any confirmed player can give another confirmed player in that same match a 1-to-5-star rating — once, no re-voting — and the average shows on their jersey card and on their own athlete profile.

What are peer player ratings?

It's a way for players themselves to rate each other's performance in a specific match, no coach or referee needed to log anything — 1 to 5 stars, given player to player.

The idea behind it is simple: the teammates who actually played the match know better than anyone who stood out that day, so the rating comes from whoever was actually on the field or court.

How it works

Any confirmed player in a match — rostered starter or just a pickup attendee — can rate any other confirmed player in that same match, even across the two sides. Pickup matches count exactly the same as matches with a fixed roster.

The stars sit below each player's own jersey card, outside the card itself, right on the match's detail view — built to make rating everyone quick, without having to open each profile one by one.

Every rating is one-shot: once you rate someone for that match, it locks — no changing your mind and re-voting. The point is to push you toward rating other players in that match instead of fiddling with the same vote.

If you've already rated a player, their stars show filled in and disabled — no error message, because the stars themselves already show that rating is done.

The average rating a player has received shows right on their jersey card during the match (a dash instead of a number until the first rating comes in), and also on their own athlete profile's stats grid.

In a rematch or a new session of the same pickup game, ratings start over from zero — each match (or rematch) has its own independent set of ratings.

Who this is for

Pickup groups who want a quick, informal way to recognize who played well, and more organized teams who want a second performance signal beyond just goals and cards — the opinion of whoever was actually on the field.

How this fits into Pulse Tactical

Rating happens right from a match's own detail view (see "Match Center"), the average shows on that player's athlete profile (see "Athlete Profiles") and, once it exists, it also weighs into that match's own Pulse Card performance calculation. Frequently asked questions

Who can rate me after a match?
Any player confirmed for that same match, even if they weren't part of the starting roster or play for the other side.
Can I rate someone more than once in the same match?
No — a rating is one-shot, per match and per rated player. Once you vote, it can't change.
Why don't I get an error message when I try to rate someone again?
Because there's no need to — the stars already show filled and locked for anyone you've already rated, which already makes it clear the action is done.
Does the rated player see their score?
Yes — the average rating received shows on the player's jersey card during the match and on their athlete profile's stats grid. A dash shows instead of a number until the first rating comes in.
Does a rematch reuse ratings from the earlier match?
No — each match or rematch has its own independent set of ratings.
