How PulseUp Works

PulseUp turns each workout into a logged session, the session into XP and streak progress, and progress into something you can share and do together with others.

The core loop

PulseUp is built around one repeating loop: train, log, earn, share. An athlete follows a plan and trains; the app logs sets, reps, weight, or cardio distance and pace as it happens; every completed session earns XP and counts toward a streak; and the result can be shared to a feed or done together with a Crew.

That loop is the same whether someone is training alone with a self-guided plan, following a program a personal trainer assigned them, or working toward a nutritionist's meal plan alongside their training.

Step by step

1. Follow a plan. An athlete either follows a personalized workout plan generated for their goals and equipment, or a program a personal trainer built and assigned to them directly.

2. Log the session. During a strength workout, PulseUp tracks sets, reps and weight per exercise, with a built-in rest timer between sets. During cardio — running, walking or cycling — it tracks distance, pace and calories, indoors or outdoors.

3. Earn XP and build a streak. Every completed workout earns XP toward a level. Training on consecutive days extends a streak, and reaching a milestone (a workout count, a distance goal, a streak length) unlocks an achievement.

4. Train with others, if you want to. An athlete can form a Crew with friends, start a synchronized Party Workout where the whole group begins and finishes together, or join a Live Cardio session and see the Crew's position and pace on a shared map.

5. Share it. Completed workouts, cardio sessions and achievements can be posted to a social feed that a Crew and followers can see.

Who this applies to

This loop is the same for every athlete on PulseUp, regardless of whether they're self-guided, coached by a personal trainer, or supported by a nutritionist. Coaches and nutritionists run a parallel loop of their own — building and assigning programs or meal plans, then reviewing the results — inside their own workspace in the same app.

What powers the loop

Train together, synchronized or live, whenever you want the social side of it.

Social feed

Turn a completed session into something your Crew and followers can see.

How PulseUp fits into a real routine

The same app that logs a solo strength session also holds the program a personal trainer assigned, the meal plan a nutritionist built, the streak an athlete is protecting, and the Crew they train with — so none of it needs a separate app or a manual spreadsheet to stay connected.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a personal trainer to use PulseUp?
No. Every core feature — personalized plans, workout and cardio tracking, XP, streaks and achievements — works for a self-guided athlete. A personal trainer's assigned program is optional, not required.
What happens when I complete a workout?
The session is logged (sets, reps and weight, or cardio distance and pace), XP is added toward your level, your streak updates if you trained today, and any milestone you reached unlocks an achievement.
Can I train with friends?
Yes. You can form a Crew, start a synchronized Party Workout together, or join a Live Cardio session and see each other's position and pace on a shared map.
Do coaches and nutritionists see the same app as athletes?
They use the same app, but with an additional Coach Workspace or Nutritionist Workspace unlocked after professional verification (CREF for trainers, CRN for nutritionists), separate from the athlete experience.
